The name comes from the Sanskrit bhāskara. Bhā — light. Kara — maker.

The light-maker. The sun, in its oldest sense.

Space has become a data problemdisguised as a science problem.

Every night, telescopes generate more data than previous generations saw in a lifetime. Satellites photograph the planet at resolutions that can count cars. Rovers beam back weather from Mars. And yet most of this data sits unused. Not because it isn't valuable, but because the infrastructure to turn it into understanding hasn't been built.

This is the gap Bhaskar exists to close.

Using rotation curves from ~175 spiral galaxies, we fit both cuspy and cored dark matter profiles, classify each galaxy by which model the data prefers, and train an interpretable classifier to predict those labels from observable properties. The output: a data-driven map of where baryonic feedback reshapes dark matter halos.

Most ventures that describe ten-year arcs do not reach year ten. What we commit to is honesty at each stage.

Bhāskarāchārya, the 12th-century Indic astronomer, wrote the Siddhānta Shiromani — a treatise on planetary motion, spherical trigonometry and calculus-like reasoning about infinitesimals, centuries before Newton or Leibniz. He worked at a time when astronomy wasn't separate from mathematics, and mathematics wasn't separate from philosophy.

That integration — the refusal to treat rigor and meaning as different things — is part of what we want to inherit.

We didn't name ourselves after the sun because we think we're bright. We named ourselves after what the sun does.

It makes things visible.
